Message from CEO

Katsumi Kuwabara
CEO, AIC Education Co., Ltd.

The AIC Group’s commitment to school education began in New Zealand in 2003 with the establishment of Auckland International College, a local private high school.

This high school became one of the top preparatory schools in New Zealand, with many of its graduates entering the world’s top universities, including Harvard, Cambridge, and Tokyo University, thanks to its unique curriculm, which includes the “International Baccalaureate Preparatory Programme” followed by the International Baccalaureate DP Programme, and its excellent guidance for students preparing for higher education.

Unfortunately, the school was closed in 2023 due to the impact of border closures caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. However, many of its 1,600-plus graduates from Japan, New Zealand, and other Asian countries are now active in their home countries and various aspects of the international community.

AIC in Japan aims to nurture human resources who can play an active role and contribute to the international community, as the phrase “Academy for the International Community” implies, and also inherits the will and know-how of  “Auckland International College,” which closed in 2023.
The International Baccalaureate curriculum, which we adopt as our educational framework, aims to provide a holistic education and fosters a spirit of deep inquiry and creative activity.
As most of the students at AICWC are Japanese, we focus on teaching Japanese language, Japanese science and mathematics education, and provide an environment where students develop their identity as Japanese.

While there are many excellent schools in Japan, not many have the distinction of being “an international school that Japanese people can feel comfortable choosing” that offers international programmes in English and focuses on Japanese language and other aspects of Japanese education.

At AICWC, we will do our utmost to help children grow up, enter universities around the world, including Japan, and spread their wings in the international community through our academic guidance, which has led many of our graduates to the world’s top universities, such as those in New Zealand.
